The colloquium, Exploring the Sexual Rights of Older Adults: Toward Healthy Sexuality and Freedom from Victimization in Later Life, was held on May 6, 2011 and was sponsored by The Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Center for Elder Abuse Prevention at The Hebrew Home at Riverdale, The Brookdale Center for Healthy Aging & Longevity, and The NYC Elder Abuse Center. Held at the Roosevelt House in New York City, attendees had a unique opportunity to increase their understanding of and collaboratively discuss mutual concerns about healthy sexuality, issues of consent and sexual victimization of older adults. Professionals from a broad range of disciplines and fields attended, including assistant district attorneys and civil lawyers, sexual assault, domestic violence and elder abuse advocates, law enforcement professionals, clinicians, academicians, researchers and others.
