In September 2014, CONNECT’s monthly Interfaith Theological Roundtable will focus on “Responding to Domestic Abuse Later in Life.” Victims of abuse in later life are typically women ages 50 and older, which is a demographic that heavily overlaps with the membership of faith communities. Therefore, the impact of domestic violence in later life is of great relevance for faith communities. This roundtable will address the following questions and more:
- How are faith communities addressing this issue?
- What about women who – while beyond the abusive situation – still carry the pain and trauma into their later years?
- Shouldn’t our faith communities be a place where long-buried stories can be told, which creates a space for healing and support?
All are welcome for this conversation! For more information and to RSVP, please email connectfaith@connectnyc.org.
