“Improving Emergency Department Identification and Management of Elder Abuse and Neglect: Findings from Forensic Research and Development of a Multi-Disciplinary Team.” Presented by Tony Rosen, MD, MPH
Dr. Tony Rosen is a researcher in elder abuse and geriatric injury prevention at Weill Cornell Medicine and a practicing Emergency Physician at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. Tony will discuss his research exploring forensic injury patterns in physical elder abuse in collaboration with district attorney’s offices. He will also describe the development of an Emergency Department-based multi-disciplinary Vulnerable Elder Protection Team (VEPT) to assess, treat, and ensure the safety of elder abuse and neglect victims while collecting evidence and working closely with the authorities.
Honoring Arlene M. Markarian, Esq.
We will honor Arlene M. Markarian, Esq., former Chief of the Elder Abuse Unit at the Kings County District Attorney’s Office, for her passionate and effective efforts championing Brooklyn’s elder abuse victims and for her significant contributions to the elder justice field. Arlene started as the Director of Crimes Against the Elderly with the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office on November 14, 2016.
