This introductory course will explore the unique dynamics of elder abuse and provide information and best practices. It is designed for individuals working in agencies providing services or support to older adults, such as social service organizations, schools of social work, housing management (including public housing), settlement houses, local government, advocacy coalitions, geriatric care managers and hospitals.
Topics to be discussed will include:
• Different types of abuse & warning signs
• Factors leading to and/or causing abuse
• Intervention strategies for working with victims and abusers
• Community resources
