Morningside Ministries regularly produces and hosts a webcast titled, “Ask the Geriatrician”. In their most recent episode, Dr. Robert Parker of UT Health Science Center at San Antonio School of Nursing presents “Financial Abuse of the Elderly“- an overview of financial abuse of the elderly as well as methods to help protect older adults from financial abuse. The NYC Elder Abuse Center’s Multidisciplinary Teams offer case consultation in Brooklyn & Manhattan. Upcoming meeting dates are listed below.
- Elder Abuse Case Coordination & Review Team: Meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month from 9:30-11:00am in Manhattan at a different venue each month.
- Brooklyn Multidisciplinary Team: Meetings are held every Wednesday morning – except the first Wednesday of the month – from 9:00-10:30am at a convenient downtown Brooklyn location.

Resources and Tools for Professionals
The New York State Office of Children and Family Services (NYS OCFS) is accepting grant proposals for projects that start a new and/or enhance an effective established child abuse, domestic violence and/or elder abuse prevention program. The Carter Burden Center for the Aging (CBCA) is seeking applicants for the position of Director of Elder Abuse. Responsibilities will include directing CBCA’s crisis intervention elder abuse program, which provides services to older adults and their families in Central & Northern Manhattan, as well as other advocacy and programing duties. Candidates should have and LMSW and at least three years of social work experience in geriatrics, elder abuse or domestic violence. Heights and Hills, a community-based provider of services for older adults in Brooklyn, is seeking a Supervisor for their Case Management program. Responsibilities of the position include overseeing five case managers, providing case management services, reviewing case data, representing the organization in the community, working with vendors and more. Applicants should have an LMSW and at least two years of experience (preferably with the elderly).
