The NYC Elder Abuse Center (NYCEAC) is excited to announce the launch of the Elder Justice Podcast Series on iTunes, which can be found here.  Our bi-monthly podcasts feature interviews with professionals from a variety of disciplines in the elder justice field, engaging in discussions on policy, practice and research – successes and challenges in preventing and responding to elder abuse related issues.  It is our objective to facilitate and further conversations on elder abuse related issues through the Elder Justice Podcast Series and use social media vehicles to disseminate useful resources and tools to professionals working with elder abuse victims.

We currently have two podcasts available.  Released in June 2012, our first podcast features an interview with NYCEAC’s Executive Director, Risa Breckman, describes how NYCEAC develops partnerships and highlights NYCEAC’s programs.  In our second podcast, released in November 2012, NYCEAC’s Multidisciplinary Team Coordinator (MDT), Robin Roberts, provides an overview of NYCEAC’s MDTs and how professionals can access them.

In our upcoming podcast, “Ageless Alliance: A National Elder Justice Movement”, Mary Twomey and Kevin Trout of the UC Irvine Center of Excellence on Elder Abuse and Neglect discuss the creation and vision of Ageless Alliance and how individuals can get involved in the campaign.  Ageless Alliance is a nationwide web-based movement connecting people for elder justice and dignity in the fight against elder abuse.  “Our mission,” Kevin says, “is to unite people across the country and unite people of all ages across the county to take a stand and say that we are not going to stand for this.” Tune in this coming week to learn more about Ageless Alliance and how you can make a difference in the fight against elder abuse in your community.
